Yeah, this is probably cheating, but I've been pretty busy at work and for some reason they frown upon billing a client for time spent on lj...can't see why.

Wednesday was a crazy busy day, I spent all day working on my client presentation for that night. Then I had said presentation. I have to say, I think I kinda rocked it - particularly for my first time. Although my boss did the last part of the presentation and I was kinda blown away at her capacity to read stuff (cases), absorb and then explain in a really simple and interesting way. She read the cases for hte first time the day of said presentation. I had read one of the cases several times and I still couldn't explain it that clearly! I guess this i why I work for her - I can learn a lot!

So I was pretty over work Thursday and got in at 8.30, took an hour for lunch, left at 5.15... That's not so unusual in my section. Walked home after work and it was delightful, then I spent last night watching make me a supermodel-amazing race-heroes whilst baking for a party on Saturday night. I made oreo truffles and m&m cookie bar. I also ate far too much batter.

Today, I got up earlyish, took my stuff to the gym and then went outside for a run - it's so much nicer running outside on a beautiful day like today then on a treadmill. I kinda hate treadmill running except for intervals and stuff. Then I went back to the gym and did some weights and stretched, then walked into work. Tonight I am having dinner with some of my awesome friends from work which I am really looking forward to. In the meantime, I have a pile of work to do and not much inclination to do it...

Yes, you can expect all my posts to be tardy this week.

Last night I had to work lateish (upside - I missed the storm, downside - I had to work late). Because I'm completely neurotic or something I usually plan our dinners out each week. Last night was supposed to be sri lanken fish curry. Of course, the power went out and the fish shop was closed as a result - no fish curry for us! Instead we had thai. Delicious thai. We have a really good thai place down the road (Thai Chada in the Grange). So fish curry will be dinner tonight!

I was supposed to play tennis with a friend last night, but once again the storm ruined all my plans. Damn storm. Even though the rain had stopped by the time we were due to play, they are artificial grass courts and it would have been a pretty lousy game. Plus I was tired. And lazy.

Today I have my presentation. I bored Julian with it last night (cause it's so relevant to a pharmacist) and realised it kinda sucks. Now just waiting for my boss to get in so she can give me some much needed feedback. All I really want to do right now is sleep.

Monday (a retrospective)

I've decided to jump on the bandwagon, albeit slightly late.

So, I'll update with yesterday's news.

Monday was, as it's apt to be, tedious. However, it wasn't as bad as last Monday when I was all "Fire and Brimstone" Leah and everyone was tiptoeing around me. THat was what I like to call "tender-induced" fury. We were putting in a tender for a government job and of course they left it to the last minute to give to me. And I've never done a tender before.

Anywho, I'm talking about yesterday, not last week. Where was I (this is all very stream of consciousness, but tough - if Owen is going to make me do this he can deal with whatever he gets).

Right, yesterday.
Got up, walked to work, got some things I put off on Friday done and off my desk (temporarily - until they come back with eleventy-billion changes). Worked on my presentation for Wednesday night. I am quite afraid, I have to give a presentation of "Trends under the EPBC Act" for clients - my first time. Fortunately I have my boss to turn to if they have any questions I can't answer.

Last night I had a fascinating seminar to attend on "Compensation under the Integrated Planning Act". Then I went to gym because I've decided I need to do more strength training. Came home, watched southpark and good news week and collapsed into bed, ready to do it all again today.

And that, dear Owen, is why I don't post - the mundane details of my life are of very little interest to me, let alone everyone else!

Since everyone else seems to be doing it....

- January I did my second clerkship, this time at Clayton Utz where I realised that my problem was more to do with McCulloughs and less to do with my chosen vocation. Also realised that I hate hate hate being bored at work and that I will be satisfied with simple tasks so long as I'm kept busy.

- February I got an offer for a trainee position in 2007 at Clutz. I promptly accepted and told HR I was interested in working at the firm this year if possible.

- Largely unemployed up until late May - very poor and depressed during this period. Some stocktaking work which sucked but at least it was some extra money.

- April (easter) - camping trip to Blackdown Tablelands with Julian and 2 of his friends (this is fast becoming a tradition). Lots of drinking, card playing and damper.

- May/June began working as paralegal at Clutz. Many drunken escapades have resulted with other paralegals...

- Birthday featuring surprise guest appearance from Mel! Represented the beginning of the continuous drinking and binging of the festive season! Work christmas party on the same night - lots more drinking.

- Graduation! Graduated from Arts/Laws with IIA honours in Law. Felt justifiably proud.

- December saw my birthday, christmas parties, my 3 year anniversary with Julian, my graduation, christmas and new years and now I need a holiday just to recover! Unfortunately not enough boogie.

2007

- CSIRO diet to improve health and lose some kilos
- Back to bootcamp - can't wait!
- Coping with the loss of 2 of my best friends moving to Canberra and Sydney
- Considerably more boogie!
- Surviving 1st year at Clutz and PLT
- Camping at Easter again and maybe ski trip mid-year, and visits to best friends!

I am very oblivious and gullible obviously but it was a fantastic surprise, even if I did promptly burst into tears. Big hugs to Mel and Alice for that - you guys are awesome.

I've also done pretty well in present department, including a fascinator, a book I've been wanting, some exercise clothes, some money, Grey's Anatomy series 1 and from Julian a BDO ticket! Really looking forward to that - I've never been to one before and it's an awesome lineup (well for me anyway).

Finally, drinkies are going to happen Wednesday night. I'm thinking meet in the Valley around 8, maybe Barsoma?
I have been very lazy with updating, mostly because I am far to busy and important :)

It's been a whirlwind of activity since Mel got back, and my bank balance is very depressing as a result. That being said, its been great to see her again... I really have missed her. Having the girls back together is great fun... lots of boogie and far too much alcohol and rich food.

Heading into 4th swing lesson this afternoon. I really enjoy it and want to go to some of the other classes around town, but I'm too scared to go on my own... anyone want to come to the Wednesday class in the Valley with me?? However, learning dancing just reminds me how many other types and styles of dancing I want to learn - cabaret, charleston, rhumba, mambo, quickstep, belly, bollywood... the list goes on. But there are never enough spare hours in the day or money in the bank to do it all.

I find my motivation to get fit being carried out with the tide lately... I can't be assed walking home at the moment, I've been really lazy about TKD (granted I have had some valid excuses) and as for yoga...pfft. Truly, if I have spare time, all I want to do is curl up on the couch with my book and lose myself for a while.

And despite everything thats been going on, I confess to having antisocial tendancies. Making the effort to see people when something hasn't been planned for me seems like just that...an effort.

I think its all just a bit rollercoaster at the moment. I'm mostly happy, but having moments of doubt (self and otherwise) and craving solitude. I just hope my friends remember I still exist when I eventually emerge from my hole.

HI everyone! I'm back from down south y'all and trying to get back into the swing of things after 2 weeks holidays.

Canberra is soooo boring and stuff. All the circular one way roads are confusing. In conclusion, I would not want to live there.

Conference was interesting, although some people really have noooo idea how to present... American woman from EPA was really interesting and nice - I like her.

Melbourne is awesome and I want to live there. It's just such a beautiful city, so many cool old buildings. Although we needed a local to show us around because we had issues finding nightlife...

I won $90 at the casino! The best part was it was on roulette, with a free chip! I went shopping with it and bought very cool cheap clothes on Bridge Road (a huge road of factory outlets). Julian was quite shopped out by the time I was through. Dear boy.

So much to say but I have to go meet tony now.

Also I had a bizarre dream involving Dione - she was such a mega bitch (obviously completely unlike her normal self) and trying to bring down my boss and blackmail julian into breaking up with me.... I really do have the strangest dreams. This morning I was shipwrecked.

Toodles!

Next week is going to be a big ball of stress...

But I want MORE interviews. More interviews = greater chances of me actually getting a clerkship.

And then I'll be a scumbag lawyer like the rest of them :D

I'm bored.
